Maaike Van Liefde

Inhabitant

We were looking for an environmentally friendly home anyway, but in our new residential area, the sustainability exceeds our imagination.

Living in De Nieuwe Dokken in Ghent has been an eye-opener for us.
We were looking for an environmentally friendly home anyway, but in our new residential area, the sustainability exceeds our imagination.

Emission-free heating with residual heat, solar energy for the techniques and mobility, integral reuse of the district’s waste water, drastic savings on water consumption by vacuum toilet.

This type of innovative interventions really give us the feeling that a difference is made.

Frederic Vandeputte

Project Manager De Nieuwe Dokken (Caaap en Van Roey Vastgoed)

De Nieuwe Dokken have allowed us to push the boundaries of sustainable living and define new standards.

De Nieuwe Dokken is a brownfield development of more than 400 homes and related functions, including offices and catering, where we use energy and heat very efficiently. Investors were sought and found to work with us through an ESCO to finance the capex of these innovative sustainable techniques and to earn them back in the long term through the sale of heat to the residents in the district.

This ESCO (www.DuCoop.be) monitors the long-term exploitation and interactively involves the users in all facets of sustainability in the new residential area.

This has allowed us to push the boundaries of sustainable living and define new standards.
